Sheila Hancock and Gyles Brandreth are once again taking the UK waterways for this two-part special exploring the Staffordshire canals. In tonight’s opening episode, the couple try to navigate the winding Caldon Canal, before heading to the Trent and Mersey Canal, where they explore the history of Stoke Pottery. At the Cheddleton Flint Mill, Brandreth pays homage to one of his favorite local writers, Arnold Bennett, while Hancock tours the former home of one of his favorite ceramists, Clarice Cliff. Summer has finally arrived in Scotland for this episode of the breathtaking nature series. Two white tailed eagles become fiercely competitive while learning to fly on the West Coast. Meanwhile, near the Cairngorms, a family of efficient beavers set out to build a dam in search of otters. AK

Andrew Marr tackles perhaps the most recognizable name in modern art in this week’s episode of his art history series: Pablo Picasso. Marr recounts the heartbreaking inspiration behind Picasso’s Weeping Woman – a fragmented portrait that helped make his Cubist style notorious. AK

With the same writers as the original films, Dean Parisot passionately revisits rock dudes (Alex Winter and Keanu Reeves) – now with additional girls – is familiar but fun.
