The exhibition features the work of abstraction veteran Prabhakar Kolte

A solo exhibition by veteran abstract artist Prabhakar Kolte that includes portraits and still lifes from his early career began here on Saturday.
The exhibition, titled âThe Mind’s Eye,â is curated by the Treasure Art Gallery and curated by writer-art critic Uma Nair. It presents the 60 paintings by Kolte as well as three installations.
According to the gallery, the exhibition includes paintings made during Kolte’s formative years and “the mature works made during and after the achievement of the characteristic art language that established its position in modern art discourse. “.
Kolte, who graduated from the Sir JJ School of Art in Mumbai in 1968 and taught there between 1972 and 1974, has several solo exhibitions to his name. He is also the recipient of the âDruga Bhagwat Awardâ for his book âFrom Art to Artâ – a compilation of various articles on art, in 2010.
âI have practiced my way of painting and it will continue until my last breath. For me painting is my passion, it is my breath and my life. I am truly happy to showcase my diverse practice with the official launch of the Treasure Art Gallery in Delhi, âKolte said in a statement.
Widely recognized as one of the pioneers of Indian Abstract Expressionism, Kolte has perpetuated his unique abstract language for more than five decades with innovation, experimentation, and change.
âKolte’s solo exhibition features stellar works of art and they span a period of time while most of them are from the past 10 years. Among the canvases and works on paper and drawings are three intriguing installations which add to Kolte’s repertoire of creativity, âsaid Nair.
The exhibition will end on December 10.
