Sylvester Stallone gets new art exhibition in Germany

Sylvester stallone is a man of many talents. Writer, actor, producer, and even… artist? That’s right, King KO himself turns out to be a talented painter and, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will show several of his paintings in the German town of Hagen at the Osthaus Museum Hagen.
The Rambo and Rocky the star’s exhibition, titled Sylvester Stallone: The Magic of Being, will debut this Saturday, December 4, 2021 through February 20, 2022. The multi-talented star said: “You know, maybe I should have been a painter. It sure would have meant a lot less stress” after arriving at the museum to unveil the first glimpse of the exhibition.
“It’s an incredible honor to have my work hung here, alongside some of the world’s greatest artists. This gallery world is still a very new world to me, ”added Stallone. And although this exhibition will mark the largest exhibition of paintings by the iconic actor from the late 1960s to the present day, its place at the Osthaus Museum Hagen is not his first. In 2013, Stallone had an exhibition at the State Russian Museum in Saint Petersburg, and then again in 2015 at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art located in Nice, France.
For those wondering what would make a museum give an actor their own exhibit, Mathias Rastorfer, an art dealer who lives in the Gmurzynska Gallery in St. Moritz and who was one of the people who organized the Hagen exhibition said: [celebrity art] on art or on fame? I remember people asking the same question when we first showed Karl Lagerfeldart. From now on, all the art museums in the world want to show Largerfeld’s work ”, explains Rastorfer before adding:“ It will be the same with Stallone.
Attracted by the work of artists, such as Jackson pollack and Willem de Kooning, Stallone picked up a paintbrush at a young age. The master painters can be seen in much of Stallone’s work which he mentions selling “for $ 5 to get a bus ticket” after finishing each with a signature of “Mike Stallone”. Shaken by his initial attempt to become a famous artist and join his heroes, Pollack and de Kooning, Stallone launched himself full steam ahead into his passion for writing and acting. His past characters and roles also make appearances in some of his works. Many have nods to Rambo and Rocky as Stallone uses his paintbrush to think about what the characters mean to him and his giant fan who follows him.
For those who panic about their favorite actor abandoning the screen for the web, they don’t have to worry. Stallone recently wrapped up filming on the latest installment of The Expendables franchise and, a few weeks ago, shared an Instagram post confirming that he would reprise his role as Stakar Ogord in the upcoming, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
