Nicolaysen welcomes three artists from Wyoming and new exhibitions to Casper
CASPER, Wyo. – The Nicolaysen Art Museum announced on Tuesday that it will host three artists and new exhibitions with an opening reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, June 4.
The three artists who will be welcomed at the reception are Bria Hammock, David von Metz and Mimi Fenton.
Le Nic says Hammock is a Cheyenne-based “contemporary wilderness painter, muralist and graphic designer” who has exhibited in the western Front Range.

“His collection of portraits of women is that of those who marked the Wild West,” says Nic. “This exhibition goes beyond the traditional beauty of the portrait and aims to discover the texture, layers and colors that illuminated these iconic figures in their time while still resonating today. The executive faces in a more realistic but pixelated way, juxtaposed with unpredictable gestural lines and vivid colors, speaks to the minds of these women.
Von Metz is a painter, collagist, photographer and digital artist based in Rock Springs.
“His current work encompasses painting, drawing and digital print creation; and exploring the intersections between these practices, ”the statement said. “His works of art, which are created by the repetition, transformation and iteration of primitive elements; are fundamental processes in the fields of mathematics.
Fenton is a Laramie-based “Renaissance painter and scholar”.
“She currently divides her time between teaching literature at the University of Wyoming and working in her studio,” says Nic. “The oversized figures in this exhibition are intentionally larger than their canvas, each pushing to fill more space, incomplete and not contained by their frames. Each character poses in an intimate moment of love, pleasure, despair, longing or self-realization.
