Best’s market segment report: AM Best revises its outlook for the Italian non-life insurance segment to negative

AMSTERDAM–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AM Best revised its outlook for the Italian non-life insurance segment from stable to negative.
The Italian non-life insurance segment is returning to pre-pandemic profitability levels, after a period of atypical profitability shaped by the emergence of COVID-19. AM Best expects the difficult economic environment to be a significant headwind for Italian non-life insurers in 2022.

Nevertheless, AM Best notes that the segment has shown resilience over several years despite a difficult macroeconomic environment, thanks to its solid operating fundamentals. AM Best could revise the outlook to stability, if insurers also meet the challenges of 2022 successfully.
